On May 9th, 2025 the Kansas City Symphony received a new Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand from Steinway’s factory in Hamburg, Germany. Through a special arrangement between Steinway Kansas City and our global colleagues we were able to coordinate a special selection arrangement for Maesto Mattihas Pintscher, Steinway Artist Tamara Stefanovich from Berlin, and retired Steinway Concert Technician, Alex Markovitch. There, and among 7 prepared Steinway Model D Concert Grands, they were able to select the perfect instrument for their Kauffman Center performances and one that will, no doubt, enhance our KC Symphony’s standing among today’s world-class orchestras.
