After a successful fundraising campaign spearheaded by Music Director, Sam Anderson, the congregation was able to select a new Steinway Model B. Upon the new instrument arriving here in Kansas City, the donors who attended the selection at the NY factory all were invited to a private unveiling in the nave where everyone got to reminisce about the selection process and experience that brought us all together. Then a few short weeks later, the new Steinway piano had its first public performance where pianist & organist, Kurt Knecht performed Chopin Sonata no. 3, Op. 58.
Following the performance we all gathered to celebrate. During the reception, members of the church mentioned how they even changed their primary seating for regular mass as the new Steinway piano is now a focal point for them to enjoy and experience.
